*Important Information Regarding Preppy K and School Choice Transfers
All PYLUSD elementary school sites will offer Preppy K starting the next school year. Therefore, the District will not accept Preppy K School Choice Transfer Applications for the 2020-2021 school year. However, if you have extenuating circumstances, please click here and complete the form. In the meantime, please be sure to register at your student’s home school. All requests are subject to space availability at the requested site.  Please keep in mind that, even if your request is granted based on extenuating circumstances, you must still submit a choice transfer form next year for your student to continue attending that site.  For questions regarding Preppy K students, please contact the PYLUSD Educational Services Department at (714) 985-8785.
What is Preppy K/Transitional Kindergarten?

Preppy K/Transitional Kindergarten is an early year kindergarten experience for children turning 5 years old between September 2 and March 31 of the academic year. Preppy K gives our youngest kindergartners an early start and provides them with the opportunity to learn and grow in an environment tailored to meet their academic and social-emotional needs.

California passed “The Kindergarten Readiness Act” (SB 1381), that changes the age when children are eligible to enter kindergarten.

Preppy K serves as a bridge between preschool and kindergarten and ensures that developmentally younger children are ready for kindergarten and beyond.
